SocialMail Bridges the Gap Between Facebook and Email; Debuts as the First Social Network for Sharing Less Widely Seen Email Content
Menlo Park, Calif. (PRWEB) May 30, 2012
SocialMail today launched its new service, making it simple and fun to share content in emails. In addition to letting people share their email publicly through Facebook, SocialMail also allows users to contribute to the services website by sharing the entertaining and relevant email content across a variety of different categories.
Email is the most widely used communication tool in the world, with a lot of users that are already sharing fun and interesting content. But until now, sharing that content with friends meant having to create or continuously update an email distribution list. It was also difficult to share email content with a larger audience and the general public. But thanks to SocialMail, that is about to change.
Now SocialMail creates a bridge between Facebook and email, marrying together two of the largest communication platforms in existence. As a result, users can now take their email content and seamlessly upload it to their Facebook page in the form of new updates.
All a user must do is forward an email that they receive, or compose one and forward it to share(at)socialmail(dot)com. That content then gets shared publicly on socialMail.com. Users can also post interesting emails that they receive, including their own additional comments, to their Facebook or Twitter account. So now, every Facebook and Twitter user can conveniently include posts straight from their inbox.
People who visit the SocialMail website can view different posts on the site according to specific categories. They can also Like a specific post and opt to receive notification when any of their Facebook friends posts a new update to the SocialMail site.
Finally, SocialMail honors the privacy of its users and their connections. Original contact information, including name, email and phone number are removed from any email that a SocialMail user posts to Facebook or the socialmail.com user aggregated content site.
We have all received great emails from friends about a variety of relevant and entertaining topics, ranging from the latest news and current events to helpful hints, funny jokes and must try restaurants, says Ankesh Kumar, CEO and co-founder for SocialMail.com. I get emails from friends and family all the time that bring a smile to my face. I want to be able to share that experience with others, but the problem is that Im not sure who to email those to because I dont want to seem like Im spamming my friends and clogging up their inboxes.
SocialMail is now another option that uses all the latest social networking tools to modernize the age-old email, added Kumar.
SocialMail allows users to compose/forward emails that are seamlessly posted to SocialMail and Facebook. This makes emailing a truly social function. The company was co-founded by CEO Ankesh Kumar, a start-up veteran who has raised a total of $ 50 million of venture capital for the three companies he founded. Ankesh sold two of his companies to Monster and Kronos and sold the search patent for the third to Google. SocialMail is an angel-funded company headquartered in Menlo Park, California.
